Millicent Lights Up 2018

The MBCA were pleased to host another Lights Up event on Sat 24th November at the Millicent Rotunda where there was lots of entertainment for the children and Father Christmas paid us a visit and handed out bags of lollies to the children.

The event was funded by the MBCA with support from Wattle Range Council. Fosters Foodland donated the bags of lollies for the children.

Millicent Lions Club, The Lioness Club, Millicent Rotary and McArthur Park kindergarten had food stalls, while the Girl Guides and Centacare provided games for the children. Putt Putt, Jumping Castle, Naracoorte Apex train and face painters kept the children amused.

The IMAG group town piano also was at the rotunda with Shari Noll, Caitlyn Altswhager and Drew Baker sharing their musical talent.

Once again Julianne McDuff from Mainly Music entertained the young ones with some songs  and Nathan McDuff worked the sound system.

The Rotunda lights were turned on at dusk.

The MBCA are proud of this event and with the support from council look forward to growing the event each year.

To our elves Chantelle and Drew another great job and of course Santa for taking the time to visit us. There was a very long line of children lining up to say hello. MBCA hopes to host this event each year into the future.

Millicent Lights up Returns Nov 29th

After a break of a couple of years the MBCA were thrilled to bring back Lights Up to the Millicent Rotunda. Over 300 children gathered to see Father Christmas and see the new lights purchased for the Rotunda turned on.

Community support was a key factor of the success of this event. The Lollies given to the children were donated by Fosters Foodland. The Millicent Scouts and Girl Guides entertained the children with games while the Millicent Rotary club cooked chips and the Lioness Ladies provided Tea and coffee for the parents. Gladys Smith Parent & Child Centre had a sausage sizzle, while Radio 5THEfm provided gift bags for the children. We are extremely grateful for all this support.

As a first, Radio 5THEfm provided the music and had an outside broadcast live to air.

The new lights for the Rotunda were purchased by the MBCA with the support of Lonergan & Muhovics. They helped us source the best lights and have offered to erect and take down each year with the help of Sharps cranes as well as storing them for us. We had Crystal Shawyer turn on the lights as a celebration of her being cancer free for 10 years.

We hope to grow this event in future years and thank everyone for their support.
